I imagined this painting as a letter to the Vucciria, as if the neighbourhood was a person to tell important things to.

During these long years this market/neighbourhood has undergone many changes, all having in common a somehow misguided attempt to reinvent itself. Today I feel death is looming. My icon is not a talisman, rather a warning. 

I hope this place lives forever.
