We have all looked at Faenza as a beacon. The images we saw around one year ago on TV conveyed to me the meaning and scope of the love a human being can feel for his/her peers. This painting is called “Heart” as a hommage to the heart of all citizens, to the love they managed to give during those days, when they rolled up their sleeves and put an effort to react to a terrible situation. Not only during the flooding, but also after: I am thinking of all the companies, all the factories, those men and women who worked diligently to go back to life. It is true that nothing can come from diamonds, but flowers can bloom from mud, paraphrasing De Andrè. A wonderful flower field bloomed in Faenza, and these flowers are the people.
